Let's Make Sure John McCain Goes Back to His Day Job

Good afternoon, all!

John McCain's not a bad guy, really.  As Republicans go, well, we could easily do worse.  I'm okay with him having a government job, good health care (he needs it, frankly), and a healthy retirement plan.  The good news is that this honorable public servant already has a job - he's a Senator.

Let's keep him there.  I don't want to promote him.  Anybody here think he's done a good enough job to warrant a better office?  New digs are nice and all, but I think he's got a good gig now.

Why not kick in a couple of bucks for our nominee?  Barack's gonna need it, as will the DNC.  I gave again a week or two back and given the awesome numbers we just put up, well...

Why not kick in again?

It's not like we're putting McCain out of work if he loses.  He's got several more years left in his current term and he'll probably do more good work where he is.  I could list twenty Republican Senators I'd rather get rid of than him (more if I thought about it), so why don't we do a bit to send him back there?  I'll be donating again after the convention when I've got some spare cash again.

Now, operators are standing by.  We wouldn't want them to get bored now would we?

Senator McCain ain't evil, he isn't the Devil, I doubt he's really interested in your lucky charms.  He's done some good work in the Senate and he's been one of the saner voices from that side of the aisle.  It'll do the Republicans some good to keep him there.  Imagine how much more fun the Senate would be if some other, crazier, meaner, purer Republican got his seat. Obviously I'd prefer more Democrats, but that's not really the point. Let's send John McCain back to his day job. You know, the one he's getting paid for but not actually doing right now.

I say saddle up folks!  I've done what I can up to this point.  I intend to do more.  This is a Democratic site that advocates Democratic positions and supports both Democratic candidates and officeholders.

We've had entirely too much negativity here of late.  Let's get pumped up, roll up our sleeves and get to work.  It's gonna be a beautiful day.

Is he up for re-election in 2010? (none / 0)

Napolitano may have her eye for that job if McCain decides to call it quits in 2010.  How about that, Sebelius and Napolitano come to Washington in 2010 to finally put the dems at 60.

Re: (none / 0)

He may have just seriously screwed up Obama's trip to Iraq by letting it 'slip out' that he (Obama) would be there this weekend. This puts Obama and all those guarding him at increased risk.
He may not be all that bad, but he is definitely not all that good.
